Amish Home Craft & Bakery, Countryside Home Bakery and Nauvoo Family Market are brimming with home-baked goodness! Now that your cooler is full of take home treats and you are too full to move…you just may want to spend the night! Did we mention we also have Geauga Park District with a great bike trail & the all new Observatory Park? Well, needless to say all I wanted to do was call my cousin up and see what she could tell me about this house and who had grown up there.Pioneer Waterland, Camp Hi Canoe Livery, Chips Clubhouse and so much more??? It was the most beautiful home I had ever seen coming from a small town. As I grew older I realized that it was open to the public for tours. A DAY TRIP THROUGH GEAUGA COUNTY AMISH COUNTRY Nestled in the northeast region of Ohio is the fourth largest Amish community in the world and a great place to enjoy a one day trip. At every stop all bus buddies received a special food item. To many people, taking a road trip means packing a small cooler to snack from along the way. Summer Friday nights also offer up an amazing Farm Market on the Square, with an open air concert. Our day included trolls, blueberry donuts, a beautiful garden/shop, Amish foods, chocolate, antiques, and Ohio wine. Our 2015 "Fall" in Love with Ohio bus trip was all about the food. Geauga County is known for its beautiful rural landscapes and Amish country making it a favorite stop for people looking to take life at a slower pace and take home an amazing array of fresh, tasty goodness! If its close to lunch time, gourmet pizza at Noce or tea at Rosepointe Cottage are excellent choices.The gardens are maintained by a grounds crew and the tour is very interesting.(I had the distinct pleasure on one of my visits to have a grandchild give the tour, great perspective on the home).These Pyrenees villages have been amazingly well preserved and are found in the middle of very privileged hiking and walking routes.Far from busy Barcelona, the loudest sounds you will hear on these small group adventures are streams, rivers, waterfalls and the occasional sheep, cow, bull or goose.
The family of this home played such an important role in our NE Ohio history.

Middlefield Cheese offers a museum that showcases their history and a video that shows you the cheese making process. Continue your journey by taking Emerson Road(CR 79) W out of Kidron to US250 W. Travel through Apple Creek where there are wonderful restaurants, unique shops and Troyers Home Pantry, an Amish bakery. A "must see" is the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center and the Agricultural Technical Institute. Enter off Madison Avenue at the main entrance to OARDC and drive through the Secrest Arboretum. When I was a little girl my mother would drive by this home and say “your cousin lives there right there across from that mansion and she is friends with one of the children”.
