My two best friends are dating each other
The most attractive qualities in another human, I've learned, is the barrage of support they have given you throughout your life, as well as the years of history between the two of you.
Just imagine him as a partner, just one time, and see if your perception changes a bit.
Obviously there's a shared interest or two which caused you to meet up in the first place.
Or, maybe it was a mutual friend who brought you together.
You'll be wondering if whether or not eating scoopfuls of peanut butter from the jar will be his dealbreaker, or if the fact that your socks are bunched together like a pile of unmatched nightmares will turn him off. How many times have you switched shirts before a first date?
It's super doubtful that a date would have gone differently if you chose a V-neck tee instead of round neck tee, but the paranoia that sets in regarding wardrobe selection will definitely make you nutty.
Unless, of course, you prefer the challenges of trying to meet and connect someone who doesn't know anything about you.
If you both bond over something, dates won't be as hard to plan.
A date can simply be an event you've wanted to check out anyway, and probably would have, regardless of your romantic status. He might joke about your gross (yet satisfying) nail biting habit, or he's probably aware that one glass of wine too many makes you weirdly political in social settings. Your mood is elevated during his presence, even if it's when you're doing something stupid like snarking on movie selections.
When you're dating, you're just cringing over anticipation of the moment when these habits come to light. He's the first one you call when you're down, and no matter what, he always knows what to say.
So, while you'd love to still dress up for special dates, you know that one false move won't change anything.
