The release of i OS 5.1 brought support for the i Pad (3rd generation).i OS 5.1.1 was the final release supported for the original i Pad and i Pod Touch (3rd generation). Apple announced i OS 6 on June 11, 2012 at its annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event, and it was released to the public on September 19, 2012 alongside the i Phone 5, i Pod Touch (5th generation), and i Pad (4th generation).The most recent i OS 13 beta release, i OS 13.1 Beta 1, was released on August 27, 2019.June 2007 saw the official release of what eventually became i OS – concurrently with the first i Phone.
The most recent stable release, i OS 12.4.1, was released on August 26, 2019. New features include, but are not limited to: a dark interface, reworks on the Reminders app, and further redesign of the Maps app.
With this release, Apple dropped support for the i Pod Touch (3rd generation) and the i Pad (1st generation) due to performance issues, and offered only limited support on the i Phone 3GS, i Pad 2, and i Pod Touch (4th generation).
The i Phone 4 onwards, the i Pod Touch (5th generation), the i Pad (3rd generation) onwards and the i Pad Mini (1st generation) were fully supported.
Apple did not drop support for any devices with this release; support for the i Phone 3G and the i Pod Touch (2nd generation) had already been dropped with the release of i OS 4.3 seven months earlier due to major performance issues.
Therefore, i OS 5 was released for the i Phone 3GS onwards, i Pod Touch (3rd generation) onwards, and the i Pad (1st generation) and i Pad 2.
